Spruce Hollow is a family started and run stable. It started from one old trail horse to now a string of 30 or more. Here is a little history how we got started.
Willis Dryden was a dairy farmer who had a horse for fun and trail rides. He had free run of the farm and would find himself entertainment by chasing the farm dog in the porch of the house, or chasing the kids off the bus from school and making them cry. When Shandi was eight years old a friend of the family knew another family that had a pony they wanted to give away. They asked if we wanted him. What eight year child doesn't want a pony, so Shandi begged her dad to give Ginger (the old trail horse) a friend. So Willie packed up the truck and trailer and was off to get the new pony Dustie.
When he got home we unloaded Dustie and he has been here ever since. That doesn't mean that we really did anything with him. Shandi was scared of him for a long time. That is until another friend of Gail's (the mom) came for a visit with her twelve year old daughter who loved horses. They gave her permission to ride Dustie. That of course made Shandi jealous, if someone else could ride her pony she could ride her pony. After that Shandi got her dad to give her lessons on how to ride. The rest is history!!!
We have owned a few horses since then and when we decided to start into lessons and boarding it started slow but has now grown into a wonderful family business. Spruce Hollow has been serving the New Brunswick community for a long time. We specialize in western pleasure horses, hunter under saddle horses and belgians. This family run stables is a horse boarding facility that offers both indoor and outdoor riding.
The stables located on Steeves Mountain (outside Moncton) is run by Shandi and Jeremy Mitton.
